From the award winning Canadian company Suncoat, a range of styling products including a Fragrance Free Hairspray in large and handy travel-size and a natural styling Gel and Mousse that are subtly scented with the uplifting essential oils of peppermint and lemon.
Suncoat was established in 2001 by a Canadian mother, Liu,Yingchun, who was concerned about the chemicals used in nail varnishes, after her 7 year old daughter began to show an interest in the product. Liu went on to develop the first water-based nail varnish free from toxic chemicals such as toluene, formaldehyde releasing ingredients, acetates, phthalate and alcohol. The company has since grown considerably and now creates a wide range of cosmetic products (make up, varnishes, hair care) that are as naturally sourced as possible, free of toxic chemicals and not tested on animals.

For any hair styling products, the most important ingredient is the HOLDING AGENT. They form a layer of clear invisible film to hold the hair in place. In conventional hair styling products, synthetic plastics such as PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone polymer), acrylic copolymers, VA (vinyl acetate) polymer and acrylamide polymer, have been very commonly used as this key ingredient.
Almost all the so-called natural hair styling products on the market today are also based on these synthetic chemicals. These synthetic plastics are petroleum derived, not biodegradable, so are not the best choice to enhance your hair’s natural beauty and do not meet our eco-friendly needs. They are contaminated with trace amount of chemicals called monomers, such as vinyl pyrrolidone monomer, vinyl acetate monomer, acrylic acid and acrylate monomers. These monomers are the starting materials for producing these plastics. They are not only toxic, but also reactive.
We have chosen natural multi-sugar biopolymers (polysaccharides) instead for hair styling. Natural multi-sugar biopolymers are essentially complex carbohydrates, readily biodegradable. They are naturally derived from renewable resources, such as corn and vegetables etc. They deliver superior performance without harming your health or our environment.
